Aledo teams split with Benbrook

In their first of just two home matches this season, the Aledo High School wrestling teams split matches with Benbrook on Monday, Dec. 11.

The Bearcats had little trouble, coming away with a 60-18 victory. The Ladycats dropped a hard-fought dual, 42-30.

All but three Bearcats won by a pin. Antonio Madera won the 157-pound division with a pin in only 15 seconds, while Noah Chasteen (120) and Carlos Obregon (285) won in pins at 52 and 43 seconds, respectively.

The Ladycats were led with from Lilly Carruthers (100 pounds), Jordan Clift (114), Ari Mathias (138) and Baillie Sessom (185).

"The girls are looking to continue to grow and get better as we get closer to the district tournament," coach Austin Stockon said. "The boys team is hoping to carry this momentum as they head to the Nest Invitational (in Azle) Jan 5-6."

The varsity girls will next compete alongside the boys in Springtown on Jan. 10. The second and final home match of the season for the boys and girls will be Jan. 22 against Brewer on Senior Night.
