Aledo teams open season

Compete in Argyle

The Aledo Bearcats and Ladycats got the 2026 track and field season underway on Feb. 19 in the Argyle Invitational. The Ladycats finished fourth among the girls with 90.5 points, while the Bearcats were sixth with 54 among the boys.

Isaac Brooks captured three medals, finishing first in the 110-meter hurdles, along with second in both the 300 hurdles and long jump. Carson Dempsey also won a gold medal for the Bearcats, taking first in the shot put. Aledo had a 1-2-3 finish in the event with Tyson O’Neal and Jordan Cooper taking second and third, respectively.

Molly Garrison won the lone gold for the Ladycats, winning the 1600. Aledo also had the third (Holland Gladchuk), fifth (Sofia Brandenburg), and sixth-place (Mayden Mitchell) finishers in the event.

The Ladycats also took second (Claire Campbell), third (Addie Fields), and fifth (Kara Overstreet) in the pole vault. They duplicated that in the 800 with Mykel Murry, Gladchuk, and Mitchell.

Aledo is running at Justin Northwest on Feb. 27 and in the Steve Goben Invitational in Burleson March 5. They will host the Bearcat Relays on March 12.
