Aledo Spring Fling draws crowds in support of prom

Almost 125 vendors on hand

The third annual Aledo Spring Fling: Craft Fair and Market Expo at Aledo High School marked another successful year. On Saturday, March 28, there were nearly 125 local vendors on display for the community to explore.

Mary McLellan, AP statistics teacher and junior and senior class sponsor, said that not only does the Spring Fling help with prom funding, but it also provides the community and small business vendors with an outlet to make connections, creating an all-around beneficial experience.

McLellan, along with a team including the class officers and about 60 student volunteers, brought the Spring Fling to life. Help from students was critical, said McLellan. The vendors were specially selected with the involvement of the class officers to create booth variety for patrons and volunteers helped them set up, monitor the day of, and break down at the end of the day – a way of giving back to the vendors supporting the event.

A deejay outside the main entrance and eight food trucks, including Bebo’s Mediterranean Food, Karla’s aguas frescas & snacks, Popcorn Express, Dub’s Delight, Kai Lani Coffee Bar, Miss Georgie’s Grilled Cheese, and Blackman’s Grill, welcome patrons upon entrance.

Once inside, attendees explore a variety of booths with the purpose of supporting the class of 2027. Smiling faces of student and faculty volunteers, booths ranging from boutiques to handcrafted items, jewelry, treats, toys, and an Easter Bunny photo op offered an experience for everyone to enjoy.

With another Spring Fling in the books, McLellan hopes to continue to grow the event and to create a bigger community spotlight because it “not only [helps] the kids, but the entire community.”
