Aledo second at Keller

Meet features elite competition

Posted

Facing some of the toughest competition in North Texas, the Aledo girls and boys swim teams combined to place second at the Keller Indian Invitational recently. The meet even featured an Olympic Trials qualifier in Keller High’s Maxwel Stanislaus.

“This meet comes at a time in our season where we’re working hard in the water and in the weight room,” Aledo coach Meghan Roberson said. “Because of this, we don’t typically see best times, but several of our swimmers achieved huge time drops from Reid Tomlin, Gunner Mills, Hannah Peckham, Natalie North, Caroline Kowalski and Michael Spillers.”

While they won no gold medals, Aledo swimmers brought home four silver (3 boys, 1 girl) and seven bronze (5 boys, 2 girls). Ian Perez claimed a pair of silver medals with two runner-up finishes, along with being a part of the third-place boys 200-yard freestyle relay (with Jaxon Robinson, Kade Roberson and Brayden DeBoer). DeBoer claimed the other silver for the boys, while Roberson earned two bronze, with Max Gentry and Parker Kaiser also getting a bronze.

Mackenzie Oligschlaeger claimed silver for the Aledo girls, while Peckham garnered a bronze. They each also swam on the girls 200 free relay (with Stella Morris and Sydni Kellam).

Oligschlaeger (100 butterfly), Kaiser (100 backstroke) and DeBoer (100 breaststroke) met qualifying cuts for the Texas Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association Meet Nov. 21-22 at the LISD Westside Aquatics Center in Lewisville.

Aledo is competing in the TISCA Non-Qualifier Meet Nov. 15 at the MISD Aquatic Center in Mansfield.
