Having just concluded a very successful Summer Reading Program, the library staff are now looking to the fall and planning upcoming programs.

A meeting was held recently at the library to discuss a new program: Senior Centered Mornings. These will be held every Thursday morning at 9 a.m. beginning in September. Ideas for activities include crafts, games, puzzles and featured speakers, as well as allowing plenty of opportunity for seniors to visit with each other.

Also in September there are plans to hold Chair Yoga classes, the day and time still to be determined. The adult Book Club is held on the second Tuesday of each month at 9 a.m., which provides an ideal opportunity to meet fellow bibliophiles, and discuss the featured books.

For those nearing retirement age or needing information regarding healthcare choices, there is a Medicare Seminar on the first Tuesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. October will see the start of an adult Story Telling program, with the first session appropriately having a Halloween theme.

Intermediate Mahjong, a popular activity at the library, will resume in the fall and it is hoped that enough “instructors” will volunteer so that a Beginners Mahjong class can also be offered.

Open Play, Makerspace, Storytime, Yoga Storytime and Common Threads will all continue at their regular days and times.

September is Library Card Sign Up Month, so the library staff encourage anyone who has not yet visited the Aledo Public Library to stop by, get a library card and take advantage of all the library has to offer.

For those who use e-readers, the Aledo library is a member of the North Texas library system which offers a large selection of e-books and audible books to download through Libby and E-Read Texas.

Information on how to access these is available at the library.  For more about the Aledo Library, programs offered and hours of operation, visit the website: www.epclibrary.com and follow the library on social media with FaceBook and Instagram.
