The Aledo boys and girls wrestling teams competed in the Mike McCready Memorial Invitational at Colleyville Heritage this past weekend. Three Aledo wrestlers placed among the top six in their respective weight classes.

For the boys, Sam Belyeu placed fourth in the 165-pound division. Meanwhile, Brice Bohn took sixth in the 113 category.

The girls were led by Ari Mathias, who placed fifth in the 138 category.

“It was a great tournament, and we got to see some solid competition,” Aledo coach Austin Stockon said. “Both teams competed well and are continuing to get better in each tournament. Come out next  Monday and support our varsity wrestlers as they compete at home starting at 5:30 p.m. in the AHS gym.”

The boys and girls are competing in the Eagle Mountain Saginaw ISD Invitational at Chisholm Trail High School Friday and Saturday. Monday, they will host their first home match of the season when they take on Benbrook and Carter Riverside in a tri-match.

After that, the Bearcats and Ladycats won’t be home again until Jan. 22 when they host Brewer on Senior Night. That will also be their final home match of the season as the district tournament is Feb. 1-2 in Vernon, followed by regionals and state.
