Aledo boys set two school records in the recent Texas Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association North Zone Meet Nov. 21-22 at the LISD Aquatic Center in Lewisville.

First, in the medley relay with Parker Kaiser (backstroke), Ian Perez (breaststroke), Brayden DeBoer (butterfly), and Kale Roberson (freestyle) posted a time 1:40.80 in prelims, besting the previous record set in 2023 by 1.57 seconds (taking seventh overall in the meet).

The Bearcats also set a new school record in the 4x100 freestyle relay with Roberson, Jaxon Robinson, Kaiser, and Perez going 3:20.34, 1.26 seconds faster than last year (with Roberson, DeBoer, Tyler Jackson, and Perez). This quartet placed 10th in the meet.

“We went into the meet expecting to chase the medley relay record, but it was somewhat of a long shot and was going to take best swims out of all four boys,” coach Meghan Roberson said. “The 4x100 was somewhat of a surprise since we had two new swimmers on the relay.”

The North Zone TISCA meet features some of the fastest qualifying standards in the region, and this year the Aledo team reached a new milestone. For the first time in roughly five years — spanning both coach Roberson’s tenure and that of her predecessor — they qualified the highest number of athletes in program history.

“This achievement is especially meaningful, considering we graduated several standout athletes last year,” Roberson said.

Nearly all of the individual event competitors advanced to finals this year, along with all of the Aledo relay teams.

“This has been our most successful TISCA showing to date, and it is a direct result of the dedication and hard work our athletes have brought to the season,” coach Roberson said. “The most exciting part of this is two-fold: It’s only mid-season, so we still have a good bit of the season left to improve the time. Second, none of these boys graduate this year. All are juniors, except newcomer Kaiser, who’s a freshman.”
