Jordan Prokell, a 2021 graduate of Aledo High School, received an Emmy nomination from the Lone Star Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences as part of the University of Texas creative team recognized for their work on “Rivalry Restored” — a documentary chronicling the return of the storied Texas A&M vs. Texas Longhorns football rivalry.

Prokell shares the Sports Documentary nomination with coordinating producer Nicholas Hetherington and assistant director of creative video Daren Cowels. The team’s work stands alongside nominees from Dallas Cowboys Media and the Houston Texans. Additional Lone Star Emmy nominees include local broadcasting figures such as WFAA’s Sean Hamilton and Marc Istook and NBC5’s Newy Scruggs.

“Rivalry Restored” revisits more than a century of gridiron tradition between the two powerhouse programs, reigniting a historic rivalry as the Longhorns joined the SEC in 2024. The film blends archival footage with modern storytelling and interviews to bring new energy to a legendary rivalry.

“I’m so honored to be part of the team nominated for this Emmy,” Prokell said. “It was definitely a grind — we had to pull everything together fast. We interviewed more than a dozen people and worked hard to capture the emotion, history, and energy of this iconic rivalry, then turn it all into a story in just about two weeks.”

Prokell’s filmmaking portfolio includes several other notable projects:

  • “Here Comes Texas: A Title IX Story,” commemorating the 50th anniversary of Title IX and the Texas Rowing team’s first national championship.
  • “Eddie Reese — Unparalleled Success,” spotlighting the legendary swimming coach’s record-breaking career.
  • A tribute video honoring Aledo football star JoJo Earle

While at the University of Texas, Prokell served as Creative Intern with Texas Athletics for all four years and earned a degree in Radio-Television-Film in May 2025. Her experience includes filming game days, media days, athlete profiles, highlight reels, and player features — including coverage of quarterback Quinn Ewers.

Additional credits include content creation and production work for Adidas, College Football Playoff, Red Productions, National Geographic, Texas Division of Emergency Management, and a music video collaboration featuring Texas baseball and country music star Parker McCollum.

Outside of sports media, Prokell is a wedding videographer and works as an Associate Video Specialist at FloSports in Austin. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and producing destination documentaries. Her work can be found on the following social media platforms:
