The 14th annual Marcia Walters Memorial Thanksgiving Trot in Aledo didn’t disappoint, continuing the tradition of community support.

More than 2,000 participants signed up for the 1k and 5k races early on Thanksgiving morning.

“I couldn’t have been happier,” said race chair Whitney Harris, about the event that benefited Niki Thompson and her sons Tagg and Troop.

Thompson’s husband, Cole, died earlier this year.

“A lot of people in the community turned out Thanksgiving morning,” Harris said.
