25 years in Stockyards Historic District

Nine bronze stars will be added this year

The Texas Trail of Fame, Inc., the organization responsible for placing more than 250 bronze stars in the sidewalks of the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District, will celebrate 25 years of educating and entertaining visitors in 2022.

The Trail began in 1997 and has become a key feature of the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District experience. To keep the quarter-of-a-century of momentum going, this year Texas Trail of Fame will add nine stars to the historic sidewalks which are seen by more than six million visitors each year. The new inductees are:

  • Robert Duvall, Actor
  • Sam Elliott, Actor
  • Geronimo, Apache Medicine Man
  • Rebecca Tyler Lockhart, American Paint Horse Association Founder
  • Texas Rangers, Dept. of Public Safety, Established 1823
  • Jimmy Riscky, Texas Bar-B-Q Legend
  • Mollie Taylor Stevenson Sr. and Jr., Ranchers/Preservationists
  • Buster Welch, Rancher/Cutting Horse Trainer
  • William “Bill” D. Wittliff, Storyteller/Writer

 The 25th Anniversary Induction Ceremony and Dinner presented by the Fash Foundation honoring the 2022 inductees on the Texas Trail of Fame will be held on Thursday, Oct. 27, in the 81 Club at Billy Bob’s Texas, 2525 Rodeo Plaza, in Fort Worth. The event is open to the public, but seating is limited. Doors open at 5 p.m.; dinner at 6:30 p.m.  Tickets are $150 each and may be purchased online at www.TexasTrailofFame.org. Raffle tickets for a Henry Texas Tribute Edition rifle are also available online.

The individuals being inducted or their representatives have been invited to attend. Everyone who loves Western culture is welcome. The Induction Ceremony and Unveiling Ceremony of the stars take place during the Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering, which adds to the excitement of the event.

“It is a thrill to meet some of the individuals whose names are on the prestigious list of heroes,” said Brad Gandy, Texas Trail of Fame president. Evening attire is “Sunday best.” The Induction Ceremony and Dinner will feature great speakers, entertainment, food and fun. The Unveiling Ceremony for the nine new 24” Bronze markers and drawing for the rifle will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, in front of the Livestock Exchange Building, 131 East Exchange Avenue, Fort Worth.
