Ladycats win first of three-game series

The Aledo Ladycats won the first game of their three game playoff series against Sherman 9-0 at Sherman tonight. Offensive star of the game was Katie Denny, who hit a triple and a two-run home run. Dennie had three RBIs overall. The series continues on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Aledo High School. A third game, if necessary, will be played immediately after the 1 p.m. game.


Ladycats to play Sherman in weekend series

The Aledo Ladycats' softball team, ranked #1 in state 4-A polls and #3 nationally, will play Sherman for the area championship in a "home-and-home" series beginning Friday, May 2, at 7 p.m. in Sherman. The second game will be Saturday, May 3, at 1 p.m. in Aledo. A third game, if necessary, will be played immediately after the second game on Saturday.

Ladycats season ends with 4-1 loss to Rider

The most successful season in Aledo Ladycat soccer history ended Thursday night in the Region I championship as Wichita Falls Rider defeated the Ladycats, 4-1, at Northwest ISD Stadium.
The 2008 Ladycats went further in the playoffs than any AHS girls' soccer squad, and finished its remarkable season with a 25-2-2 record.
The Community News would like to join all Aledo fans in congratulating the Ladycats for an outstanding season.

Ladycats face Wichita Falls Rider Thursday in regional final

The Aledo Ladycats soccer team will play in the regional finals against Wichita Falls Rider at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 3, at Northwest ISD Stadium. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students.


Canion fires perfect game

Aledo senior pitcher Whitney Canion retired all 15 batters she faced, including 12 strikeouts, to lead the Ladycats to a 14-0 victory over Mineral Wells on Tuesday. It was Canion's second perfect game this season. To read the story on the game see the April 4 edition of The Community News.


Ladycats to vie for regional title

The Aledo Ladycats soccer team defeated Canyon Randall today, 2-0, to capture the regional semifinal crown. The team will play the winner of the Birdville-Wichita Falls Rider game for the regional championship before April 5. For more information, see the April 4 issue of The Community News. Soccer playoff scheduled

The regional semifinal soccer playoff between the Aledo Ladycats and Canyon Randall has been scheduled for 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 1 at Memorial Stadium in Wichita Falls.


Ladycats defeat Fossil Ridge

The Aledo Ladycats avenged last year's area championship loss to Fossil Ridge by winning in a shootout tonight at Northwest High School. Aledo took an early lead on a goal by senior midfielder Jordan Leech barely a minute into the game. At the end of regulation the teams were tied at 1-1, and two overtimes did not solve the issue. Aledo's Kirby Zak, Kaylee McGee, Brooke Hubbard and Ashley Huhn won the shootout 4-2, giving Aledo the 3-2 win.
Aledo will play Randall in the regional semifinal at a date and time to be determined. Randall defeated Wichita Falls 4-3. Game time and place will be posted at this Web site.

Ladycats advance in soccer playoffs; Bearcats fall

The Aledo Ladycats advanced in area soccer playoffs Tuesday night against Denton Ryan,The win was 1-0 on a kick by Ashley Huhn.

The Bearcats fell for the second year to Keller Fossil Ridge on a last-minute goal by Fossil Ridge. The final score was 2-1.

Aledo Soccer playoffs Tuesday

The Aledo Ladycats and Bearcats soccer teams will play area-round matches Tuesday at Boswell High School. The Ladycats will play at 6 p.m. against Denton Ryan followed by the Bearcats match against Keller Fossil Ridge at 8 p.m.
