Kangaroos upset in bidistrict

In an upset, the Weatherford Kangaroos’ baseball season came to an end in their Class 6A bi-district best-of-3 series against Keller on May 2-3. Keller won the first game at home 2-1 and came to Weatherford to defeat the Kangaroos 4-3 the next day.

Weatherford ended the season with a 26-8-1 overall record, while Keller (21-11-1) advances on to face District 2-6A champion Frenship (21-7-1) in the area round. The Kangaroos were the runners-up in 3-6A and Keller was third in 4-6A.

In the series clincher, Keller scored to tie the game in the top of the seventh. Then, after each team scored in the eighth, they scored the winning run in the top of the ninth.

In the opening game, three different Weatherford pitchers combined to pitch a three-hitter.
