Supports Rogers

Posted

Representative Glenn Rogers is rare. He didn’t seek office for what it could provide him; rather, he sought office for what he could provide his constituents. He brings a wealth of varied experiences to bear that help him be successful.

It’s his role as a veterinarian where one can find many parallels to his role as a legislator. Let’s consider a few that typify what it takes to be successful.

Dedication – It takes years of education to become a veterinarian and then continuous education once in practice to be effective. Similarly, as a legislator, one must continually learn policy and the priorities of one’s constituents.

In his first term Rogers faced the challenges of COVID-19, an unprecedented winter storm, a successful regular session followed by numerous special sessions and redistricting.

Compassion – The work of a veterinarian is a daily schedule of working with animals and concerned owners. Resolving problems is a constant for a legislator. Sometimes a change in the law is necessary but often duty requires helping a constituent with a problem that requires deftly navigating governmental bureaucracies that frustrates everyone who encounters them.

Glenn worked with the city of Coleman, Brown County Water District, and numerous communities in Hood County helping to restore power following the winter storm of 2021. On a personal constituent level he helped a young man in Albany whose eligibility to play football was in jeopardy by UIL red tape.

Communication – Medical terms and concepts can be overwhelming to comprehend. A good communicator can take a complicated subject and translate it into easily understood language. This skill applies equally to medical practitioners and legislators.

Good legislators, like Glenn, simplify the alphabet soup of government acronyms and needlessly complex processes into common language that is easy to understand.

However, above all others is Glenn’s willingness to be present and listen. He seeks to listen more than speak. Glenn Rogers is my choice for Texas House District 60 because he does the hard work of traveling to all parts of the district to ask questions in order to understand his constituents’ needs.

Supports Rogers

I am a third generation educator, a retired high school principal, and a school trustee. I am a strong advocate for public schools, as is my friend and HD60 representative Dr. Glenn Rogers.

It greatly concerns Dr. Rogers that in today’s world teachers are not respected as professionals and are blamed for societal issues beyond their control. Representative Rogers speaks firmly about his dismay that public schools are under attack by political activists who relish belittling teachers, and who plot the demise of public school districts in order to divert public tax dollars to private schools. This madness must stop. School choice is a parental right; however, a voucher funded by your tax dollars should not pay for another’s choice of a private school education.

Representative Rogers recognizes how vital the 15 public school districts are to their communities in the newly re-districted HD60. He’s been to these school districts, which are scattered across Palo Pinto, Stephens, and Parker counties. He’s met with the superintendents. And he’s provided an open line of communication by sharing his personal number. Glenn Rogers is approachable — and he listens.

The 87th Legislature was Representative Rogers’ first term in office. His voting record on public education issues during the session was rock solid. He authored and passed the “13th check” legislation for retired educators, and increased the state’s contribution to TRS-Care. Both of these were top concerns of the more than 400,000 retired public educators across Texas.

Also, Representative Rogers voted to fully fund the Legislature’s pre-pandemic HB3 commitment to public education by investing $11.6 billion directly to the 1,250 public independent school districts in Texas. In addition, Representative Rogers supported the adjustment for the small and midsized Career Technology Education allotment to ensure smaller school districts are not penalized for providing CTE instruction. This was a much needed and greatly appreciated funding adjustment for the school districts in HD60.

Let’s re-elect Rep. Glenn Rogers on March 1 because he will stand in the gap for our public schools.

Supports Rogers

Glenn Rogers is a person you can trust, and one who has the experience to be successful in representing all the folks from Stephens, Palo Pinto and Parker counties.  Representing all citizens is the Job, that is the oath of every elected official to represent all citizens from which they are elected and the office they serve in. That, I believe is the Truth.

I have witnessed Glenn’s commitment to serving people as a professional in his veterinary business, ranching business, consulting in the animal health industry and even a professor in collegiate education. Glenn has a career of superior professionalism and a career of service to Texans and his community.

I do not want a representative that only represents a few donors, I want a person of principle who gathers all information they can, makes informed decisions, and then votes representing me as a part of all the people of HD60.  That is the right thing to do.  That is what Glenn Rogers will do in Austin from HD60, it is what he has done from HD60.

I have served my Aledo church along with Glenn. Glenn, Mandy and family have been my Annetta neighbors. I am privileged that my family has deep ranching roots and I know his commitment to that distinct Texas heritage and doing what it takes to continue living the rural life of Texans, while growing the agricultural capabilities of Texas.

Glenn’s professional abilities are truly a gift and our HD60 electorate should retain this in our representative for this growing and diverse district.

Glenn is a true conservative who follows conservative values day to day, he is actually pro-business, actually voted to fund increased border security, and is actually working to eliminate unfunded state mandates that actually build a pathway to actually lowering local property taxes.

Constitutional carry for Texans is a reality. The “heartbeat” bill is a reality because of Glenn Rogers Pro-Life vote. Public Education is stronger and retired teachers have a better future because Glenn actually voted for those things, things he said he would do. That’s what great elected officials do, it is not about crude politics, it is about getting the right things done.

Mary Beth, my family and I are voting for Glenn. Join me, It’s the right thing to do.
