The Bankhead mess

Bankhead – what a mess! Everyday from 1187 to Ranch House Road cars, huge pick-ups, and commercial trucks fast track it east and west on Bankhead Highway.

Bankhead – an accident waiting to happen. I know. I live off Bankhead.

Every day I enter Bankhead and in doing so know I better have my road rally face going. It’s no place for indecision or without two cups of coffee. Cars and trucks travel the posted 45 mph speed way faster (should be 40).  Hang onto the wheel, as you’re certainly going to engage huge lumps and bumps from potholes and pass incredibly close to jacked up pick-ups with mud tires, not mentioning the industrial eighteen wheelers. Bankhead is narrow for the traffic and without a shoulder, throw in a curve or two for more excitement. It’s dangerous.

What’s the solution? We have a County Commissioner election March 1st, how about the County Commissioner Candidates for District 4 defining their platforms? What are they going to do about this roadway which falls into their leadership purview?

Instead of placing signs all over Parker County, how about stating what you stand for, which I hope is widening, improving, and making a safer Bankhead Highway from 1187 to Ranch House road! Commissioner Candidates, what’s your plan?

Clearing things up

It has come to my attention that many citizens are being confused or mislead by mailers and other information that can be interpreted to be the opinion of the Parker County Republican Party. As the Chair of the Parker County Republican Party, I feel the need to add some clarity to these misleading messages.

1. The Parker County Republican Chair is designated through the By-Laws of the Parker County Republican Party to be the only spokesperson for the Parker County Republican Party. As such, the Parker County Republican Party does not favor one Republican candidate over another Republican candidate during the Republican primary season. It would be divisive and has hurt the party in the past.

Any person or organization that promotes political policy or specific Republican candidates does NOT express the views of the Parker County Republican Party. Any person or organization that does so should clearly self-identify as a special interest, political action committee or private group.

2. The Parker County Republican Party By-Laws [Article VIII] are clear on this subject. Any person or organization found to be publicly promoting specific policies or candidates in any manner purporting to represent the Republican Party of Parker County may be subject to censure by the Executive Committee of the Parker County Republican Party.

Knowing the character of my Republican friends and neighbors, I am confident that there will be no future need for concern on this subject. I look forward to an exciting and spirited primary election season throughout Texas.  I am optimistic that our candidates and their supporters will all stick to facts on policy, refrain from any personal attack and support our goals to preserve conservative values.

Thank you and God Bless Texas!

Chair, Parker County Republican Party
