In response to the increasing needs of businesses in Parker and Wise counties and the surrounding areas, Weatherford College is adding a Department of Business and Behavioral Science.
Dr. Philip Mathew will head the department while maintaining his duties as program director for the growing bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership.
“It’s true that the greatest danger is in standing still,” Mathew said. “This innovative move captures the natural synergies within these disciplines to help WC deliver even more value.
“My hope is to build on the work of my colleagues and leverage the talents of our expert faculty to prepare well-educated and well-rounded students who are positioned for success. When this happens, the businesses and other stakeholders in our community also
benefit as they gain the talent they need to grow and thrive.”
The Weatherford College service area sits in one of the fastest-growing regions in the nation. And as nearly one-fifth of all undergraduate students nationwide are business majors, this new department will help fill the growing need for future business leaders.
“Our new Department of Business and Behavioral Science will better serve both our student population and our thriving business community,” said WC President Tod Allen Farmer. “Weatherford College is now positioned to prepare scores of exceptional business leaders and entrepreneurs for generations to come.”
The new department becomes effective Aug. 1, with additional economics sections and other business courses being added as soon as possible.
