Poker Night Fundraiser

The Aledo Bearcats annual Poker Night Fundraiser is Jan. 18 at the Morningstar Amenity Center. The event supports the Aledo High baseball and features dinner, drinks, dancing, silent auction, raffle and more.

Lady Roos No. 2 in state

The Weatherford Lady Roos are ranked No. 2 in the state in Class 6A in this week’s Texas Girls Coaches Association soccer poll. At press time they were off to a 4-0 start and had outscored their opponents 20-0.

The Lady Roos play at Aledo (3-1) Friday, Jan. 17 at 6 p.m.

Weatherford JV A 3, Granbury JV A 0

Goals and shutout by Emily Odom, Jayden Wright, Camren Freas-Lewis, Mariana Diaz, Quinn Kahlden, Alana Naal.

Weatherford JV B 4, Granbury JV B 0

Goals: Temperance Medlicott, Piper Mercier, Brisa Escobedo, and Morgan Banfield.

POWERLIFTING

Lady Roos win home meet

The Weatherford Lady Roos opened the season by winning first place out of seven teams at home on Jan. 7. 

Individual winners were Lauren Schweiss, Selah Galindo, Bailey McDougall, Reagan Hunt and Jaclynn Gomez. Runners-up were Zoe Todd, Maddie Seago, Kylie Baruch and Kiara Carson.

RODEO

THSRA leaders

Several Weatherford competitors are among the leaders in their respective divisions in Region 3 of the Texas High School Rodeo Association, including in the all-around standings.

Brody Clemens is fourth among the Senior Boys All-Around standings. Among the Senior Girls All-Around, Madison McCulloch is ninth.

In individual events:

Team roping: 9. Clemons, 10. Walker Parkey.

Reining cutting horses: 3. McCulloch.

Girls cutting: 2. McCulloch.

Calf roping: 1. Clemons.

Bull riding: 1. Jesus Villa.
