Four members of the Aledo Bearcats will continue their 2025 powerlifting competition — with the possibility of a fifth joining them — at the Region I Meet on Thursday, March 6, at Abilene Wylie High School.
In the 242-pound division, Anthony Flowers lifted 1,465 at a meet earlier in the season and is seeded seventh in his weight class.
Chase Wilburne qualified in the 220 division after lifting a qualifying total of 1,410 pounds at district to place third. He is ranked 10th in the region.
Kreuger Summers will compete in the 275 weight class and is seeded 10th in the region. He placed third at district after lifting 1,575 pounds and qualifying.
Omari Din-Mbuh was fourth in district in the 308 class. That total lift of 1,420 pounds qualifies him as the seventh seed in the region.
The top 12 lifters in each weight class after the regular season qualified for regional competition. From regionals, the top two lifters in each weight class advance to state, along with any others who achieved a qualifying lift total.
State is March 21 at the Taylor County Expo Center in Abilene.
Another who could find himself competing at regionals should someone not be able to participate is Luke Campbell. He is seeded 13th in the 308 division with 1,345 pounds, which placed him eighth in that weight class in district.
“All of our lifters did well at district and achieved our highest totals of the year,” Aledo coach Brad McCone said of the league meet, which his team hosted on Feb. 20.
