Ladycats in 11th place after opening round of girls' 5A state golf tournament


Madison Head shot an opening-round score of 85 to pace the Aledo Ladycats today after the first round of the girls' Class 5A state golf tournament at Wolfdancer Golf Club near Bastrop.

The Ladycats shot 360 as a team and sit in 11th place after the first round. Magnolia and Grapevine are tied for first place after each team finished with identical scores of 319. With a 326, Kingwood Park sits in third place after 18 holes.

Other Aledo scores include Rylee Gabbert with an 88, Madison Wyss with a 90, Kaitlyn Wright with a 97 and Deyton Deller with a 98.

The second and final round will be Tuesday at Wolfdancer.
