The Eagles and Lady Eagles completed in the Friday Night Hawk Invitational in Carrollton on Friday, Aug. 16. The competition covered two miles.

With their entire team back from last season, the Aledo Ladycats sent a message that they are once again a program to be reckoned with as they won the championship of the prestigious Waxahachie Wood house Invitational at Maypearl on Saturday, Aug. 17.
It was the first 5K meet of the season for Aledo, which ran in the Brock Six-Mile Relay the week before.
The Ladycats, who finished second in the state in 2023, won the Elite Girls division, scoring 69 points to outdistance runner-up Dallas Highland Park with 83.
"This was a great meet for competition, with the likes of Highland Park, Colleyville Heritage, Coppell, and Allen in attendance," Aledo coach Mike Pinkerton said. "There were many pleasant surprises today, and everyone did a fantastic job."
The Bearcats placed fifth among the Elite Boys with 196 points.
The Ladycats had three runners place in the top 15, led by Molly Garrison, who was seventh with a time of 18 minutes, 23.80 seconds. Micah Neal was ninth in 18:33.80 and Mykel Murry placed 11th in 18:37.20.
The Bearcats, who also qualified for state as a team last season, were led by Jack Fink, who was 15th with a clocking of 15:53.50. Tyler Connelly was 17th in 15:58.70.
Also running for the Ladycats varsity were Madison Larsen, 23rd, 19:22.00; Sofia Brandenburg, 26th, 19:43.20; Hadleigh Walton, 33rd, 20:01.00; and Mayden Mitchell, 34th, 20:02.60.
Also competing for the Bearcats were Luke Schabel, 49th, 16:45.60; Ian Robbins, 63rd, 16:59.60; Dominick Barrera, 72nd, 17:05.80; and Thatcher Pettit, 78th, 17:10.20.
