Gas service interruption in east Parker County



Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018, 12:26 p.m.: According to Texas Gas, representatives are working to get gas service restored.  However, the company is saying it may take several days for complete restoration. The gas outage affects both residential and commercial customers.  Numerous local restaurants have been forced to either close or have limited menu options, as they are unable to operate gas-powered grills and fryers.

Information for residential customers:

In order for service to be restored to your home, the following steps are necessary, according to Texas Gas:

  • Texas Gas Service technicians must enter residences/businesses to perform safety checks on known visible and accessible natural gas appliances. If an appliance is not up to code, they will not be able to light that particular appliance.
  • An adult, 18 or older, must be home for the service technician to enter the residence.
  • They ask that pets be secured for the safety of technicians.
  • They ask that any gates remain unlocked so the technicians can access the meter.
  • All technicians have company photo identification and logoed clothing. They will also be wearing a logoed yellow safety vest.

If you smell gas or have a natural gas emergency, please leave the area then call 911 and the Emergency Dispatch at 1-800-959-5325 (LEAK). This number is for emergencies only.

Texas Gas is reporting that customers in the Hudson Oaks, Willow Park, and Aledo areas are without natural gas service until further notice. Construction workers on the site of the new H-E-B in Hudson Oaks struck a line this morning. Crews are on the scene working to resolve the problem and restore service. According to a spokesperson for Texas Gas, it could be two days before all service is restored.

"Our service technicians are going to each home or business affected to turn off meters," Texas Gas said in a statement. "If no one is home, we will leave a customer tag on the door. Natural gas service will remain off to affected homes/businesses until the line can be repaired."

The company stressed that customers should not attempt to turn their gas back on themselves.
