Clayton Colby Thomas, 39, of Hico, Texas, left us suddenly on January 14, 2025. A loving husband, son, brother, and uncle, Colby will be remembered for his endless creativity, a talent for building anything he could imagine, and a contagious laugh and smile.
Born on August 11, 1985, in Fort Worth, Colby was the second son of Frank and Garla Thomas. Raised in Aledo, Colby was a gifted athlete and enjoyed all sports, but none more than football, excelling at quarterback for the Bearcats. Colby made strong friends there that he would stay connected with for the rest of his life. Following high school, Colby eventually followed his love for the outdoors to the family ranch in Hico.
On March 24, 2018, Colby married the love of his life, Cassidy. Her grandparents owned the neighboring ranch, sharing a fence line with Colby’s family. They first met in 2013 and were able to spend eight years together. He was a devoted husband and their profound connection will be deeply missed.
Colby was kind, funny, and always knew how to make others laugh. When he wasn’t designing or building his next project, he loved to hunt, fish, and spend time with family, friends, and his cherished companion — his dog, Beaux. He had an artistic mind, an eye for detail, and a unique ability to bring his ideas to life.
Colby is survived by his wife, Cassidy Thomas; his parents, Frank and Garla Thomas; his younger brother, Brady Thomas; his older brother and his wife, Tyson and Karis Thomas and their children Parker, Jackson, Beckett, Lucy, and Lyla; his grandmother, Sandra Fox; and his uncle and his wife Chris and Jayne Griffin. Colby was preceded in death by grandparents Frank and Lucille Thomas and Garland Griffin.
A service to celebrate Colby’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 24, at Stillwater Meadows (9842 E Bankhead Hwy, Aledo).
