Led by Braden Stokes, the Aledo Bearcats won the championship of the Granbury Fall Classic played at DeCordova Bend Country Club and Harbor Lakes Golf Course on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 18-19.

Stokes posted a two-day total of 4-over-par 146 to finish second individually. As a team, the Bearcats shot a 628 to edge runner-up Argyle with a 631, third-place Grapevine at 634 and fourth-place Granbury 2 at 635.

Among the girls, the Ladycats placed fourth with a 684. Southlake Carroll won with a 655, Lovejoy Black was second with a 662 and Grapevine was third with a 671.

Emily Crick led Aledo with a 161 over two days. She was ninth individually in the tournament.

“The boys played well both days. They played two different types of courses and made the adjustments to win the tournament,” Aledo coach Brian Mourning said. “Really proud of those guys to finish and win the tournament.”

Harbor Lakes is a wide-open course, while DeCordova is more traditional with trees, etc.

The Ladycats improved from an opening-day 356 at Harbor Lakes to a second-day score of 328 at DeCordova.

“Girls played a lot better on Day 2. Day 1 for them was not what we expected, but they bounced back at DeCordova to put them in a place to be in the top three. I’m proud of them for fighting back.”

Also for the Bearcats, Tyler Anderson, 161; Logan Lund, 161; Maddox Jessup, 162; and Ethan Elmore, 167.

Also for the Ladycats, Reagan Gilliland, 170; Harper Price, 176; Addison Russ, 177; and Sydney Purdon, 195.

The four lowest individual scores in each round comprise the team total.

The Bearcats and Ladycats were playing in the District 5-5A Preview at Cross Timbers Golf Course in Azle on Oct. 22.
