Two members of the Aledo Bearcats powerlifting team qualified for the upcoming Texas High School Powerlifting Association Division I State Meet at the Taylor County Expo Center in Abilene on Saturday, March 25. They qualified from the recent Region I Meet held at Abilene Wylie High School.
Davhon Keys qualified by winning the 220-pound division, lifting a total weight of 1,495 pounds. Caleb Loth qualified by finishing second in the 198 class with a total of 1,455 pounds lifted.
Keys lifted 575 in the squat portion, bench pressed 355 and had a dead lift of 565. Loth had a squat lift of 555, a bench press of 365 and he dead lifted 535.
Several others from Aledo placed in the top five of their respective weight classes, including Wilson Sehnem, fourth in 123, 800 pounds lifted; Alex Arana, fourth in 242, 1,430 pounds; Raymond Howard, fourth in 275, 1,440 pounds; Bryon Wheeler, fourth in 308, 1,480 pounds; Nevin Walker, fifth in 114, 535 pounds; and Andrew Chasteen, fifth in 165, 1,165 pounds.
Also lifting were Cory Tilley, seventh in 165 division, 1,135 pounds; and Caden Atwood, seventh in 220, 1,290 pounds. D.J. Williams scratched in the 308 class.
