Western Hills Class of ’71 Reunion

The Western Hills High School Class of 1971 will hold its 50-year reunion beginning with a Brazos River Party at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, at a location to be named later.
The party will include a Fuzzy’s Taco fajita buffet, two drink tickets, and complimentary wine.
The main event will be held from 6-10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, at Ridglea Country Club in Fort Worth, and will include dinner and two drink tickets.
The cost for the icebreaker and main event is $150 if paid by July 31, or $170 if paid by Sept. 7 (the last purchase date).

Pink Luncheon

Pat Smith will be the keynote speaker at the annual Pink Luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, at Willow Park Baptist Church, 129 S. Ranch House Road in Willow Park.
A project of the Parker County Health Foundation, the Pink Luncheon raises funds for mammography screenings for Parker County residents.

Blessing of the Pets

Aledo United Methodist Church will host a Blessing of the Pets from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at 100 Pecan Dr. in Aledo.
Residents are encouraged to bring their pets to the parking lot of the church at that time.

WC Foundation Golf Tournament

Canyon West Golf Club 160 Clubhouse Dr., Weatherford

The Weatherford College Foundation’s 21st annual golf tournament is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 7, at Canyon West Golf Club.
Registration and breakfast begin at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. The tournament is limited to the first 30 paid foursomes.
The tournament is a four-person scramble with trophies for the first, second, and third place teams along with awards for longest drive and closest to the pin on multiple holes.
The cost to enter the tournament is $125 per person and $500 per foursome. The cost includes breakfast, lunch, a long-sleeve WC pullover, green fees, and golf cart. Mulligan packages are available for $25 per golfer and include two mulligans and two raffle tickets.

Established in 1978, the WC Foundation provides scholarships for Weatherford College students and other support of WC. The foundation has given more than $350,000 in scholarships so far this academic year to WC students with more to come.

Fall Plant Sale

Fort Worth Botanic Garden 3220 Botanic Garden Blvd, Fort Worth

The annual Fall Plant Sale returns to the Fort Worth Botanic Garden | Botanical Research Institute of Texas (FWBG|BRIT) campus from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9. The plant sale will be conducted in The Grove area of the Botanical Garden. Free access to The Grove is via Parking Lot D (3408 West Freeway, and entering through the Parking Lot D gate.
Stock up on fall plants while taking advantage of Garden professional consultations if needed. “Each year guests tell us how much they appreciate advice from our horticultural staff when shopping,” said Director of Horticulture Keith Brock.

Zebstrong Golf Tournament

The 2021 Zebstrong Memorial Golf Tournament will tee off at 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11, at Split Rail Links and Golf Club, 2151 Old Annetta Road in Annetta.
Zeb’s Foundation was created to carry out Zeb Montgomery’s vision to touch lives all over the world by giving soccer balls away across the globe.
At the age of 13 Zeb was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He battled cancer for 18 months and never stopped believing he was going to win the fight.

Cooking Well Series

Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Office 604 N. Main, Weatherford

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host a three week Cooking Well Series from 10 a.m. to noon on Fridays Oct. 8, 15, and 22 at the Parker County Extension Office, 604 North Main Street in Weatherford.
Each week Cooking Well with focus on strategies for preparing healthy foods that will save you money and time. There will be hands-on food preparation and food to taste.
Oct. 8 – Veg Out! – Examine the benefits of vegetables and fruits. Prepare and sample some tasty recipe ideas and learn how to increase fruits and vegetables in your diet.
Oct. 15 – Cooking for One or Two – Learn strategies to make the most out of cooking for a household of one or two.
Oct. 22 – Cook Now, Enjoy Later. Discover how planning can reduce stress with freezer meals. We will provide ideas and participants will prepare a couple of freezer meals to take home.
The classes are $10 per person for the entire series, or $5 per session.

Center of Hope Gala

Covered Bridge Venue 2250 Agnes Circle, Springtown

The Parker County Center of Hope will present “An Evening of Hope” gala beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, at Covered Bridge Venue, 2250 Agnes Circle in Springtown.
The Center of Hope is the poverty assistance program in the county. It provides basic assistance, education and career development, and additional services to the county.
Sponsorship levels are Peace ($5,000), Love ($3,000), and Joy ($1,500). All sponsorship levels include a table for eight, with additional amenities for larger sponsors.

TCA Legacy Dinner

Colt McCoy, former University of Texas quarterback and current NFL quarterback, will be the keynote speaker at Trinity Christian Academy’s Legacy Dinner and Auction at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022. The Legacy Dinner is a biennial event that raises funds for special projects at TCA.
The event will include dinner, silent auction, and a live auction led by a TCA crowd favorite, auctioneer Dean McCurry. The dress is western attire and TCA invites the community to join in this fun and inspirational evening.
