Parker County Women’s and Newcomers Club
Interior designer Kristin Williams from Decorating Den in Benbrook will be the program at the next Parker County Women's and Newcomers Club meeting at 9:30 a.m. Friday, June 14, at the First United Methodist Church Family Life Center, 301 South Main in Weatherford.
The social hour, including the Club Shop, begins at 9:30 a.m. The Club Shop has jewelry, purses, scarves, and other merchandise. The business meeting begins at 10:30 a.m. The buffet lunch starts at noon.
PCWNC main service focus is with the Weatherford College scholarship programs, helping ladies meet their goals workforce enter today's workforce.
All ladies are welcome. To make reservations for lunch, call Shirley at 817-757-7379 or Lois at 817-946-1930 by Friday, June 7. Lunch is $11.

PM Hangout
The Willow Park Citizens Group will hold its PM Hangout from 5-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, at Cafe 23:5 in The Shops at Willow Park.
The focus will be on reporters. WPCG has several digital platforms and is looking for reporters.

The Parker County Active Democrats will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, July 8, at the 20th Century Club, 321 S. Main in Weatherford. The speaker will be Weatherford College President Dr. Tod Allen Farmer. The Parker County Aggie Moms’ Club will host a Howdy Party from 5-10 p.m. Saturday, July 20, at the Parker County Sheriff’s Posse, 2251 Mineral Wells Hwy. in Weatherford.
In addition to games, door prizes, and silent and live auctions, the event will include Yell Practice with the 2019-2020 Texas A&M Yell Leaders straight from College Station — including two of our own Parker County Aggies — Kenny Cantrell and Jacob Huffman. Dinner will be beef and chicken fajitas from Esperanza’s Catering.
Tickets are $20 in advance and $35 at the door. Student tickets are $12.50, $20 at the door.

Great garden ideas to try at home
August in Texas — time for a getaway. For backyard gardeners, landscapers or just dreamers, you can go “idea shopping” with Chandor Gardens horticulturist Steven Chamblee at the August meeting of the Native Plant Society’s Cross Timbers Chapter in Weatherford at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, at Mount Pleasant School, 213 Raymond George Way in Weatherford.
Visitors are welcome and light refreshments will be available.

Census rep to speak to NAACP
The Parker County/Weatherford, TX NAACP Branch 6321 will host Eda Kosma, a U.S. Census Burau representative, at its general membership meeting at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10 at Mt. Pleasant School, 213 Raymond George Way in Weatherford.
The meeting is free and open to the public.
