Christmas Tyme in Aledo
December 7 @ 11:00 am - 9:00 pmFree
The City of Aledo and the Aledo Economic Development Corporation will once again bring holiday spirit to Downtown Aledo with the 19th Christmas Tyme in Aledo event on Saturday, Dec. 7.
To kick things off, the 42nd Annual Arts & Crafts Fair will begin at 11 a.m. in the gymnasium at the Church at the Crossing. Vendors will sell homemade and handmade items until 8 p.m. Vendors selling only commercially-produced items are also a large part of the event, and can be found at outside booths during the evening events in Downtown Aledo.
The events downtown and at Aledo Community Center will begin at 5 p.m. and will include many new and returning attractions.
New this year will be the Magic Mirror Photo Booth, and the Art-On-The-Go mobile art room. Aledo Event Planner Toni Fischer also announced “a new attraction for this event that will surely wow our audience,” a 35′ dual lane inflatable slide.
There will be plenty of activities that veteran attendees will recognize as well. Returning attractions include the Disco Snowman bounce house, the inflatable maze, Artificial Ice Rink, and of course, the Mini-train rides. A live reindeer exhibit will be at the Aledo Community Center as well. Many live performances are scheduled, including the Coder Elementary School Choir, Just For Kix, Aledo Academy of Ballet, and Aledo Youth Cheerleaders.
The East Parker County Library will accept Letters to Santa this year. Attendees will be able to find crafts and snacks at the library as well.
A very special guest is expected to attend the Christmas Tyme event as well. Santa is expected to arrive at the Aledo Community Center by fire truck, courtesy of ESD1 Station #34, at 6 p.m. Santa will assist Mayor Kit Marshall with the official Christmas Tree lighting. After Santa has had time to settle in, pictures will be available until 8:30 p.m.
Be sure to bring an appetite, as food and concessions will be available for purchase throughout the event. Food trucks will be situated along Oak St. and in the Aledo Commons. Food and concessions will also be available for purchase in the cafe area in the Church at the Crossing and by the Aledo 4H in the Aledo Community Center. Restaurants Bistro 1031 and Poquito Mas will also be open for dinner, and Two Sisters Tea House will have specialty drinks and holiday treats for sale.
