Christmas on the Square
December 7 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pmFree
The Weatherford Chamber of Commerce will hold the 33rd Annual Christmas on the Square celebration in Historic Downtown Weatherford from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7. This year’s celebration is sponsored by North Texas Chevy Dealers.
This year will mark the 20th year that the Gov. Samuel W. T. Lanham Camp 586 has organized the annual Christmas Parade. The parade will begin at the Weatherford Ninth Grade Center, make its way north to the Courthouse, turn west onto Palo Pinto St. and then south at Waco St. to pass by Cherry Park on its way back to the Ninth Grade Center. Larry Martin at Camp 586 said, “We look forward to one of our biggest and best parades this year.”
The event will feature plenty of family-friendly fun, with more than 75 vendors from the community providing opportunities to shop as well as activities and treats for people of all ages. Many of the booths will be non-profit community organizations, such as the Weatherford Soccer Association, Weatherford Youth Association football, the Miracle League of Parker County, and the Weatherford Band Fan Club.
Many local churches will have booths as well, such as New River, Shady Grove Baptist, The Fellowship at Weatherford, and Trinity Bible Church. These booths will have an assortment of goodies and trinkets, and many will have pastors present.
This year’s celebration will include live carolers, an entertainment stage, ice sculpting, and a carousel. The Kids’ Area will feature inflatables, free family activities, a giant snow globe, and the Mini Train. There will also be many roaming holiday characters, such as Rudolf and Frosty.
Food will be available to purchase from many vendors and booths. There will be barbecue, tamales from Fruitiland Gourmet, and shaved ice from Funkey Munkey.
Santa Claus can be found at Fathom Realty on York Ave. and he will be available for pictures, so bring your camera. Mrs. Claus will be at the Back Home Bakery on North Main street. Be sure to look for the red mailbox and have your letters mailed to Santa. The red mailbox will be located in the North West quadrant of the Square at the North Texas Chevy Dealers’ booth, along with a table with stationary where kids can write your letters to Santa.
The entertainment stage will be located in the County parking lot and will feature live performances from festive and local performers.
Admission and parking are free. Christmas on the Square is brought to you by the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce. For more information, call 817-596-3801 or visit www.weatherford-chamber.com.
