Aledo High School hosting three events today including home track meet; soccer concludes 6-5A play at Boswell

Aledo High School track, softball and baseball will play respective contests at home today, with soccer finishing District 6-5A play at Boswell.

Aledo will host its annual track meet at Bearcat Stadium. Field events will begin at 3:15 p.m., the 3,200-meter run is set for 4 p.m. with running events scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

The running events in order:

• 4x100 relay
• 800-meter run
• 100/110-meter hurdles
• 100-meter dash
• 4x200 relay
• 400-meter dash
• 300-meter hurdles
• 200-meter dash
• 1,600-meter run
• 4x400 relay

The Ladycats softball team returns home and will face Northwest at 6:30 p.m. at the AHS softball field. An hour later, at 7:30 p.m., the Bearcats baseball team will host Saginaw.

Both AHS soccer teams will conclude district play at Boswell. The Ladycats/Lady Pioneers match will start at 6 p.m. at Pioneer Stadium followed by the boys’ match at 7:30 p.m.

There is much at stake on the pitch. A win or tie will give the Bearcats the outright district championship. The Bearcats can still lose and win district if Saginaw also loses.

The winner of the Ladycats/Lady Pioneers match will take second place in the district.

AHS notes: Ladycats head coach Heather Myers announced this morning that Tuesday night's regularly scheduled softball game at Boswell has been moved to Monday due to a heavy chance of thunderstorms forecast for Tuesday. As of now, the JV game will start at 4:30 p.m. followed by the varsity at 6:30 p.m. If there is a change in game times for Monday games The Community News will have that change here and on its Facebook page and Twitter account. The Aledo Bearcats baseball game will also switch to Monday. Head coach Chad Barry announced the Bearcats will play at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Azle.
