Aledo senior third baseman Bailee Whitener and senior right fielder Caden Cunningham each drove in three runs to lead the Ladycats to a 6-4 victory over the Brock Lady Eagles in non-district softball action Monday night at Aledo.
Senior Megan Reynolds was the winning pitcher, allowing three earned runs on six hits with five walks and two strikeouts in seven innings.
Whitener smashed a two-run double in the opening frame and later walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the fourth to earn her third RBI. Cunningham’s double in the fourth drove in two runs to give the Ladycats a 5-3 lead.
After Brock scored a run in the top of the sixth to cut the hosts’ lead to one run, Cunningham earned her third RBI by lining a single to score courtesy runner Morgan Brown for a 6-4 cushion. Brown crossed the plate three times during the contest in pinch-running duties.
Reynolds sent the Lady Eagles down in order in the seventh inning – including a strikeout for the third out – to record the win..
