Ladycats advance to second round after 42-28 win over Denton Ryan

Aledo went on an 11-0 run in the fourth quarter to break open a close game as the Ladycats defeated Denton Ryan, 42-28, Monday night in a Class 5A girls’ bi-district playoff game at Keller Central High School.

The win advances the Ladycats to the area (second) round. The Ladycats will face the winner of the Trimble Tech/Richland game.

Ryan scored the last four points of the opening period to take an 8-6 lead after the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Ryan led 12-6 before the Ladycats went on a 9-0 run to end the period to take a 15-12 lead at the half.

Sale book-ended the scoring flurry with a three-pointer to begin the run and a pair of free throws to end it. Sarah Haeussler and Elizabeth Allanach each sent down a layup in the middle of the run.

The Ladycats outscored Ryan 9-6 in the third period to take a 24-18 lead into the fourth quarter.

Haeussler recorded a double double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Also scoring were Riley Sale with eight points, Elizabeth Allanach with seven, Taylor Morgan with six, Janessa Payne and Reagan Brown, each with four and Audrey Pearce with one.
