Ladycats run past Sam Houston; will face Brock at 2 p.m. today in home tournament semifinal

Aledo jumped out to a 29-1 lead after the first quarter and never looked back as the Ladycats ran past Arlington Sam Houston, 57-30, Friday morning in the quarterfinals of the Ladycat Invitational 2016 at the Aledo High School gym.

The win advances the Ladycats to the tournament semifinals where they will face Brock. Tip off is set for 2 p.m. today at the AHS gym.

The winner of the Aledo/Brock game will advance to the tournament championship game, which will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at AHS. The loser will play for third place at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

Aledo freshman guard Taylor Morgan led all scorers with 17 points, with Abby Losos and Janessa Payne each adding seven.

The Ladycats led 29-1 after the first quarter and 38-13 at the half. Sam Houston outscored Aledo 15-9 in the third period to cut the Ladycats’ lead to 47-28 as the game moved to the fourth quarter.
