Paced by double digit kills from Maddie Goings and Emily Smith, the state-ranked No. 10 Aledo Ladycats had little trouble in a 25-10, 25-13, 25-12 victory over Denison Tuesday night in a Class 5A, Region I bi-district volleyball match at Denton High School.
The Ladycats (36-8) will advance to the area round and face Richland at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Brewer High School.
“The girls did a good job of staying focused,” Ladycats head coach Kathy Goings said. “Denison showed me a couple of things that we will have to work on, so it was a good match. We were active at the net, and our passing and defense were good. I was proud of the way the girls played.”
Maddie Goings finished with a match-high 12 kills, while Smith added 10. Setter Erin Weiss dished out a match-high 38 assists, and Sydney Casey led all defenders in digs with 15.
Brecken Roquemore and Amanda Norman each finished with seven kills; Maddie Goings added 11 digs and three aces; and Norman recorded eight digs.
