Ladycats dominate at net, sweep Northwest in key District 6-5A match

Aledo senior hitter Maddie Goings sent down a match-high 20 kills to go along with 15 digs to lead the state-ranked No. 15 Aledo Ladycats to a convincing 25-16, 25-15, 25-16 victory over No. 24 Northwest Tuesday night in a key District 6-5A volleyball match at AHS.

The win raises the Ladycats' district record to 7-1, while Northwest falls to 5-3.

In addition to Goings' 20 kills, senior hitters Emily Smith and Amanda Norman each finished with eight kills, while defensively, junior libero Allegra Rivas produced a match-high 20 digs.

Senior setter Erin Weiss had a busy night, dishing out a match-high 47 assists to feed the active Aledo hitters.

In sub varsity action, the Ladycats junior varsity raised its 6-5A mark to a sparkling 8-0 after a 24-26, 25-23, 25-23 win, and the freshman team dropped its opener, 25-22, but rallied back to take wins of 25-19, 25-20 to clinch the match.
