Weather forces First Friday cancellation

The City of Aledo has announced the cancellation of this week’s First Friday celebration due to weather.

The festival, which was scheduled for June 3, is held entirely outdoors, and recent rains - with more expected - prompted the decision.

“Even if it didn’t rain any more between now and Friday, the ground would be too wet,” said city secretary Deana McMullen. “Unfortunately we had to make the decision to call it off.”

No reschedule date is expected.

The city’s next event will be Aledo Fest on October 15.
