Aledo's Cheyenne Knight stands up to the pros playing as an amateur at the LPGA's Volunteers of America Texas Shootout with one-under par 283

Former Aledo Ladycats and current Alabama freshman golfer Cheyenne Knight shot a one-over par 72 today in the final round of the LPGA's Volunteers of America Texas Shootout at Los Colinas Country Club to finish in a tie for 29th place.

Knight, playing as an amateur, finished with a 72-hole total of 283 (one-under par). Knight began the tournament with a one-under par 70 and followed with a two-under par 69 to drop to three-under par after two rounds.

Knight, who made both cuts in the tournament, shot a 72 on Saturday to survive the final cut (top 50 players) and came back today to match her third-round total.

Had Knight been playing as a pro she would have won $10,176 for her efforts.

"It's been a great experience playing against the pros," Knight said. "I have had a good freshman season so far, and seeing how my game stands up to the professionals has been a good test. I am very blessed."
