Ten Aledo High School athletes qualify for regional track meet during first session of area meet

Ten Aledo High School track athletes qualified for the regional meet in 12 events after the first day of the District 7-5A/8-5A Area Track and Field Meet today at Clark Stadium in Fort Worth.

The running finals of the area meet will be at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday, April 21) at Clark Stadium.

The top four finishers in each event at the area meet advance to the regional meet.

The Class 5A, Region I Track and Field Meet will be held Friday and Saturday, April 29-30, at PlainsCapital Park/Lowrey Field in Lubbock.

Nine AHS athletes qualified for the regional meet today in field events, while another, Harrison Tillman, qualified in the boys' 3,200-meter run. Tillman's time of 9:48.87 was good enough for a second-place finish and qualification to the regional meet.

Aledo thrower Wes Harris will go to the regional meet in two events. Harris placed first in shot put and second in discus.

The Bearcats will get all three pole vaulters to the regional meet. Dan Clute tied for first place, while T.J. Zalar finished third and Brevin McCoy placed fourth.

The Ladycats also fared well at pole vault as Sierra White won the event with Mackenzie Lyon finishing second.

Other AHS regional qualifiers include Cody Bradford (second, boys' high jump), Erin Weiss (third, girls' shot put; fourth girls' discus) and Alaina Touchet (fourth, girls' shot put).
