DAR Hosts Good Citizens Award and Scholarship Luncheon

Posted

The Weatherford Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution hosted its annual Good Citizens Award and Scholarship Luncheon at North Side Baptist Church in Weatherford on March 23.

The Good Citizen Award recognizes a graduating senior from each of the seven high schools in Parker County for their outstanding character, leadership, service, and patriotism demonstrated in their homes, schools and communities. Each student was selected by his or her high school to receive this honor.

This year’s recipients were:  Cody Bradford, Aledo; Emily Orr, Brock; Raven Parman, Millsap; Yoselin Garcia, Peaster; Trey Thomas, Poolville; Rachael Raford, Springtown, and Kylie Dillinger, Weatherford.

Since 1924, the Weatherford Chapter has provided a scholarship annually to a deserving young woman or man to further their educational goals. This year, the chapter received 15 applications from across the county from very deserving graduating seniors. The scholarship committee, after much deliberation, awarded three scholarships.

The first recipient is Emily Orr of Brock High School, the daughter of Cindy Thomas and Eddy Orr of Weatherford. Emily is the granddaughter of Georgia Orr.

Next was Jordan Segura, niece of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Segura of Poolville.

The third scholarship was awarded to Madison Rudolph, daughter of Angie Rudolph and John Rudolph both of Weatherford.
