Rhett Anderson went four for five at the plate and drove in three runs, Nick Cheema blasted a grand slam home run and Griffin Benson hit a homer and drove in four runs as the trio led the Aledo Bearcats to a 13-3 victory over Cleburne Saturday afternoon in the District 8-5A finale at Cleburne.
The game was called on run rule after the sixth inning.
The Bearcats finish with an 11-3 district record and in second place. Aledo will take on the third seed from District 7-5A next week in the Class 5A bi-district playoffs.
Jacob Ashkinos was the winning pitcher for the ‘Cats. He allowed two earned runs on four hits with three walks and five strikeouts in 4-1/3 innings.
Jacob Hickey finished on the hill, allowing no runs on one hit with no walks and a strikeout in 1-2/3 innings.
Also recording a multiple-hit game was Hunter Rosson, who swatted three hits, including a triple, while scoring three runs.
Cam Caldwell, Calloway Shands and Carter Windes each recorded a hit as Aledo registered 12 hits in the contest. Windes also scored three runs.
