Bradford throws one-hitter to lead Bearcats to 2-0 win over Crowley; Ladycats fall in District 8-5A finale

Posted

Aledo senior pitcher Cody Bradford allowed one hit while striking out 11 to lead the Bearcats to a 2-0 victory over Crowley Tuesday night in a District 8-5A baseball game at Aledo.

The win raises the Bearcats' district record to 8-3.

It was the third one-hitter Bradford has thrown this season. The lone hit the lefty surrendered was an infield hit.

The game was scoreless until the Bearcats scored twice in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Hunter Rosson smashed a double and scored on a base hit by Rhett Anderson. Anderson scored three batters later on a double steal.

Bradford sent down the Eagles in the final two frames to secure the win.

The Bearcats will continue district play at 7 p.m. Friday at Burleson.

Cleburne 7, Ladycats 6

Cleburne scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning and held off an Aledo rally in the bottom of the frame to come away with a 7-6 win in the District 8-5A softball finale Tuesday night at Aledo.

The Ladycats finish  8-5A play with a 10-4 mark.

Should district-champion Burleson Centennial defeat Joshua (10-3) Wednesday in a district-finale make-up game, the Ladycats will be the district's second seed.
