Aledo rips 17 hits, Bradford fans 11 as Bearcats cruise to 10-1 victory over Crowley

Posted

Paced by a four-for-four outing at the plate by Jacob Ashkinos along with three-hit efforts from Hunter Rosson, Nick Cheema and Noah Collins, the Aledo Bearcats raised their District 8-5A mark to 3-1 after a convincing 10-1 victory over Crowley Friday night at Crowley.

The Eagles (2-2) were limited to five hits as Aledo senior pitcher Cody Bradford allowed one run and walked one while striking out 11 in a seven-inning complete game effort.

Ashkinos singled four times and drove in two runs; Rosson reached five times and slapped a pair of singles along with a double; Cheema also added a double and two base hits; and Collins singled three times.

The Bearcats recorded five extra-base hits, including a two-run home run by first baseman Griffin Benson, who also smashed a line-shot double. Pinch-hitter Cam Caldwell also registered a triple.

Aledo led 3-1 after three innings before scoring two runs in each of the fourth and sixth innings before closing the scoring by crossing the plate three times in the seventh.

Bradford appeared to get stronger as the game progressed, striking out five batters in the last three innings. Bradford retired 12 of the last 13 Crowley batters and ended the game by firing a strikeout.

The Bearcats - who remain a game behind league-leading Granbury (4-0) - will continue district play at 7 p.m. Tuesday at home against Burleson.
