The seventh annual Unleash the Sound Marching Festival hosted by Aledo High School’s Bearcat Regiment will be this Saturday, Oct. 13 at Aledo Bearcat Stadium.
Fifteen area high school bands ranging from 3A to 5A will perform their contest shows for a distinguished judging panel and spectators. This marching festival provides participating bands an opportunity to perform in front of judges and receive critique which will help prepare the bands for UIL competition scheduled for Oct 20 at Burleson High School. Division ratings will be awarded based on the following criteria: music (54 percent), marching (36 percent), percussion (5 percent) and color guard (5 percent).
The top ten bands will advance to the finals and will perform again that evening. While the judges decide the final scores of the preliminary competition, the audience will enjoy an exhibition performance by the Bearcat Regiment. After the Finals the renowned UTA Maverick Marching Band will perform.
Trophies will be awarded to the top three bands and caption awards will be given to the outstanding color guard, outstanding drum majors, outstanding percussion, outstanding music performance, outstanding marching performance and outstanding general effect.
The Aledo High School Wind Ensemble will play your favorite Disney music at “Night at the Pops,” 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, May 11 and 12 at the AHS Auditorium. The program will also feature the Colorguard, AHS Choir and special guests. Donations for the band will be accepted at the door.

The High School Band Spring Concert will be May 3 at 7 p.m. in the Aledo High School Auditorium.
The Aledo High School Jazz Band will play in concert at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 21 at the AHS Auditorium.
The award-winning Aledo High School Wind Ensemble, AHS choir and special guests will present the annual Night at the Pops concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 7 and again at 7 p.m. Monday, May 9 in the Aledo High School Auditorium.
“If you are a Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter fan, music from all the movies will be performed,” said Director of Bands Joey Paul. “We will also feature the music of Van Halen, Aerosmith, Queen, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Madonna, Taylor Swift, and Justin Timberlake.”
