The Parker County Republican Party's annual Lincoln Day Dinner is Saturday, March 23, at the Parker Room at Fire Oak Grill on the Square in Weatherford. Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst will speak. Precinct and county conventions will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 21 at the Ninth Grade Center on South Main in Weatherford. Registration starts at 8 a.m. County Convention will start at 9:30, but not before the completion of the all precinct conventions. Additional details are available at parkertxgop.org.

Bob McEwen
Six-term Ohio Congressman Bob McEwen will be the featured speaker at the Parker County Republican Party annual Lincoln Day dinner on Saturday, Feb. 4 at the Parker Room in Weatherford. Activities begin at 6 p.m. with the Lincoln Council Reception, then a general reception and silent auction at 7 p.m. and dinner at 7:30 p.m.
McEwen was elected to represent Ohio's Sixth district in the United States House of Representatives in 1980. Before his Congressional service, he operated a successful Ohio real estate anddevelopment firm as well as serving three terms in the Ohio General Assembly as the Senior Republican on the Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee.
During his congressional service, McEwen filled a variety of positions. He was asked to serve as Special Presidential Envoy for both Presidents Reagan and Bush. He also served as a United States representative to the European Parliament from 1985 to 1993. McEwen was a participant in a variety of political and military negotiations.
McEwen served as Chairman of the Environmental Affairs task force of the United States delegation to the European Parliament. McEwen was selected by the Democratic leadership of the U.S. Congress as the chief spokesman for the United States in discussions with European Green Party and other Environmental Organizations.
