The Aledo Independent School District has announced its annual Kindergarten Roundup for 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. April 9-13. Pre-K and kindergarten students for the 2012-2013 school year will be registered.
The following documents will be required for registration: proof of residency (i.e., electric bill, lease agreement), birth certificate, Social Security card and current immunization records.
To be eligible for enrollment in a pre-kindergarten class, a child must be at least four years of age as of Sept. 1, 2012, and must be either unable to speak and comprehend the English language or from a family whose income is at or below subsistence.
To determine eligibility for students who do not speak and comprehend the English language, a home language survey and an oral proficiency instrument will be administered. Eligibility for a student who comes from a family whose annual income is at or below subsistence will be based on the same formula used to qualify students for free or reduced-price lunches. Verification of income (current pay stub) will be required as well as proof of residency, (i.e., electric bill), birth certificate, social security card, and current immunization records.
