News from or about the City of Weatherford
Beginning at 9:30 pm, Saturday, December 18, the bridge over I-20 connecting Santa Fe Drive and Clear Lake Road will be temporarily closed to thru traffic. The bridge and all lanes of traffic will re-open at approximately 8:00 am, Sunday, December 19.
Motorist traveling south on Santa Fe Drive, headed east on I-20 or south on Clear Lake Road will be re-routed via I-20 to South Main Street for a re-direct to their destination. Motorist traveling north on clear Lake Road, headed west on I-20 or north on Santa Fe Drive will be re-routed via I-20 to Bankhead Hwy. for a re-direct.
WeatherfordThe following offenses were observed or reported to the Weatherford Police Department between Tuesday 10-05-10 and Wednesday 10-06-10.
10-05-10, 200 Hidden Acres Ln, a complainant reported that between 10am and 11am unknown person(s) had removed several pieces of jewelry from her residence without permission.
10-05-10, 1500 Hanover St, a complainant reported that at approx 11am an unknown suspect entered into the yard without permission and stole a two gallon gas can.
Burglary of a Vehicle:
10-05-10, 2000 Mason Pond, a complainant reported that between 10-04-10 and 10-05-10 unknown suspect(s) had entered into a vehicle without permission and stole a Leatherman tool.
Special to CN: A window was one of the many things vandalized at the local Girl Scouts camp.Recently, Weatherford Police Department was contacted by representatives of the local Girl Scouts of America who reported that several buildings at the Girl Scout camp, located at 1419 Holland Lake Dr, had been vandalized including the 120 year old, single room, rock cabins.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found multiple windows broken, a fire extinguisher discharged, and graffiti on several of walls inside the buildings. The suspects spray painted “SKJ”, “Westside” and “420”.

As always, the Weatherford Police Department is committed to keeping the community up to date on the latest email, mail, and phone scams. We were contacted recently by a resident who received this letter (click here) which has been deemed a mail scam. The resident took the letter with the accompanying check to their bank who advised them that it was fraudulent.
There will be lane closures on the main lanes of I-20 between FM 2552 (Santa Fe) and FM 51 (South Main) Tuesday, Sept. 14, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Closures will begin on the east bound inside lane and, upon completion, will move to the west bound inside lane.
