City implements voluntary water restrictions

City of Hudson Oaks moves into Stage 1 (Voluntary) Water
Restrictions

In response to seasonally dry weather and rising water demand, the City of Hudson Oaks has initiated Stage 1 (voluntary) water restrictions. The City projects that water demand levels will consistently rise over the next several weeks and continue through the next several months.

The purpose of Stage 1 (voluntary) water restrictions is to raise the Public’s awareness of the need to conserve water and encourage responsible use.

Worker in trench collapse flown to hospital

Erin Cooper/The Community News: A CareFlite helicopter transports a construction worker who was trapped in a trench in Hudson Oaks this afternoon.

A trench collapsed on a contract worker with DT Utilities in Hudson Oaks this afternoon at the corner of Oakridge Drive and Inspiration Drive. The worker was in a trench installing a sewer line when the trench collapsed on him. He was trapped in the trench for approximately three hours.

A trench collapsed on a worker with DT Utilities in Hudson Oaks today at Oakridge at Inspiration Drive this afternoon. The worker was in a trench installing a sewer line when the terench collapsed on him. He was trapped in the trench for approximately three hours. The worker is out and is being flown by Careflite for medical attention. Judy Molenburg, ESD #3 Commissioner, said the extent of his injuries are uncertain, but that he was in contact with first responders throughout the rescue.

Robert Hanna resigns

City Administrator Robert Hanna resigned tonight during the regular Hudson Oaks city council meeting. He will leave to take a position at the City of Weatherford as Assistant City Manager of Infrastructure and Development.

Hanna's last day in Hudson Oaks will be July 27.

Hanna said it has been the greatest honor of his career to work for Hudson Oaks and he hopes that his efforts will still be beneficial to the area.

Both bond issues pass - City issues settled

Both Aledo school bond issues passed in voting Saturday, May 10.
Proposition 1, a bond package of 59,060,000, passed 1315-926,

Proposition 2, a smaller package of $7,965,000, passed 1353-873.

In school board races, incumbent Connie Suchocki was defeated by David Davis 1107-766. In place 7, incumbent Leanne Osgood held off challenger Jay Stringer, 1012-960.

Businesses sponsor new exit ramp

New development to begin phase one in near future

Hudson Oaks citizens, or those passing through, will have an extra option for exiting Interstate-20 in the future.
Several businesses and development companies has joined forces to make it a possibility for people to have direct access to the car dealerships and shopping centers west of Lakeshore Drive.
The exit ramp will be located just east of the current Lakeshore Drive bridge, according to city administrator Robert Hanna.

Tax Notes Update

The Hudson Oaks city council adopted an ordinance at a special city council meeting last Tuesday, Feb. 5 to issue tax notes in the amount of $1.8 million dollars.
Bank of America approved the loan at an interest rate of 3.176 percent.
The city will have the option to pay off the loan without penalty any time after 2011.
