Weatherford's Lady Roos' varsity softball team remains undefeated in district play after defeating Arlington High, 5-0, on Friday in Arlington. The Lady Colts are ranked No. 2 in District 4-5A competition.
Senior pitcher Jordan Wallace had another excellent game striking out 15 Arlington batters. She also went 4-for-4 from the plate including a double and a home run. Alicia Rich also had a double in the game -- contributing to the Lady Roos' 11 hits.
Lady Roos, who are now 17-9 overall and 10-0 in district play, will face Paschal on Tuesday. The varsity game will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by the junior varsity matchup at 7:30 p.m.

WHS Junior Class to compete in the Hulen Mall "My School's Cool" competition!

Every point counts, so please turn in all of your Hulen Mall store receipts to help Weatherford WIN UP TO $5,000 THIS SEMESTER! For your receipt to count it must pass two tests.
1) Be dated between January 14 and May 3, 2011
2) Be from any store at Hulen Mall.
You can turn in your receipts to the lockers at the Hulen Mall food court, or send your receipts to Rachel Griffin or Nikki Comstock at WHS. If you need to keep your receipt, please make a copy and we can fill out a points pass for you.

The Lady Roo junior varsity softball team supported the Challenger Baseball Division during Saturday's Weatherford Little League Opening Day ceremonies.
Each division provided a pitcher and catcher to throw out the first ball of the season. Luke Fulton threw the first pitch and Jaicy Hall caught it.
Registration for Kindergarten for the 2011-2012 school year will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2011, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. and also from 6:00–7:30 p.m. Parents/Guardians need to bring the child's birth certificate, immunization record, and proof of residency in the WISD with them in order to register their child in kindergarten.
Kindergarten students must be five years old by September 1, 2011. The parents/guardians of the student must be residents of WeatherfordIndependent School District.

Weatherford ISD was closed five times this school year due to inclement weather. However, only two "bad weather days" were designated on the calendar (April 22 and May 27).
The District is in the process of submitting a waiver to the state for the remaining three inclement weather days, but no information regarding the status of the waiver is available at this time.
Please note that elementary students will dismiss at 1:50 p.m. on April 22, and secondary students will dismiss at 2 p.m. Also, the May 27 makeup date will have an early dismissal for students, but more information will be provided at a later date.

Registration for Kindergarten for the 2011-2012 school year will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2011, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. and also from 6:00–7:30 p.m. Parents/Guardians need to bring the child's birth certificate, immunization record, and proof of residency in the WISD with them in order to register their child in kindergarten.

Weatherford ISD's Career & Technical Education Department is proud to announce that our Automotive Training Program continues to meet the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) standards.
We were contacted March 10 regarding our Midpoint Compliance Review. NATEF sets high standards insuring a quality education for students and the best training for future careers in the automotive Industry. Through the hard work of the WISD Automotive Technology Teacher, Stephen Trainer, who is a Master Mechanic himself, the program continues to grow and expand.
The Weatherford FFA student organization traveled to Jacksboro for multiple Career Development Events (CDE) judging contests on March 3. The contests were highly attended from surrounding schools.
As many as 130 students competed in some of the contests. Weatherford FFA students brought home many awards.
In team competitions, all Weatherford teams placed in the top 10 with one exception. There were 13 students who placed in the top 10 for high individual scores. The results are as follows:
Range Contest - 3rd place team. High Individuals; Austin Ingram 13th, Ali Cantrell 14th, Lawson Preiss 17th, Koby Wulfjen 20th out of 69 students.
Livestock Contest - 10th place team. High Individual; Aidan Pool 18th out of 130 students.
