April 5, 2011 by Anonymous

From the Parker County Sheriff's Dept.

Parker County Sheriff’s Lt. Mike Camp said John Mark Moyers, 50, was charged with felony theft after SCU members conducted an investigation and collected evidence of Moyers scamming local businesses out of thousands of dollars for a fake golf tournament.

SCU investigators said Moyers had conducted nearly one dozen similar scams throughout Texas and Arkansas over the last two years.

“During the investigation, our investigators discovered Mr. Moyers was conducting a food drive scam to collect canned foods and cash to benefit area charities and local food banks, but in reality, he was keeping all of the proceeds and using them at his discretion,” Camp said.
