Sheriff investigating gunshot deaths

The Parker County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the death of two people found at a residence Friday afternoon, Oct. 22.

Sheriff Larry Fowler said the victims were said to be husband and wife and both appeared to have suffered fatal gunshot wounds. The call was placed to dispatch just after 1 p.m. Deputies responded to the 4300 block of Tin Top Road in Weatherford, where the couple was discovered in the yard of the home near a rear entrance of the residence.

A family friend was said to have visited the home to check on the welfare of the couple, found the couple and dialed 9-1-1. A handgun was found at the scene, which will be processed as evidence and submitted to a crime lab.

SCU seize drugs, weapons, ATVs

Earlier this month, Weatherford-Parker County Special Crimes investigators and area law enforcement seized several weapons which are believed to have been stolen along with three ATVs and over two ounces methamphetamine after being prompted by anonymous tips.

Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler said SCU members conducted an investigation which led them to an undisclosed address in northern Parker County, where a search revealed a small amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, three handguns, an assault rifle, various ammunition, a scope and 2.11 ounces of methamphetamine.

Sheriff’s Office to hold prescription drug 'take-back' event

Parker County will participate in a nationwide effort to prevent prescription drug abuse and theft. The Parker County Sheriff’s Office will work in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration and other government, community, public health and law enforcement partners in a “Take-Back” initiative, in which a designated deputy will collect potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs for destruction.

“The service is free and anonymous with no questions asked,” Fowler said. “And no identification will be required to participate in the program.”

Shootings mar Labor Day weekend

Sheriff’s deputies responded to two shooting calls over the Labor Day weekend.

Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler said both shootings occurred Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, but were unrelated and in separate parts of the county.

The first incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of Knob Hill Road, in Azle, where a 16-year-old juvenile was shot in the face with a .22 rifle.

Investigators said the victim found the weapon, which belonged to his mother, in a closet. The victim’s sibling did not observe the shooting, but told deputies his brother had been playing with the weapon when it went off. A sheriff’s report stated neither boy believed the rifle was loaded.

Parker County Sheriff’s investigators and deputies are seeking the public’s help in identifying and locating a male suspect who robbed a Millsap bank Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, at gunpoint.

Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler said the unidentified male entered the First National Bank of Santo in the 100 block of Fannin Street, with a note and pointed a shotgun at the teller, demanding cash around 2:30 p.m.

Church vandals sought by sheriff's office

Parker County Sheriff’s investigators are seeking the public’s help in identifying and locating suspects who broke into a local church and vandalized it.

Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler said the incident happened at Central Baptist Church in north Weatherford in the 4200 block of Old Agnes Road, sometime between Monday, Aug. 23, and Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010. A report was made by a janitor at the church after he came to work Wednesday morning. The complainant told deputies he observed several doors and property within the church which had been damaged.

Parker County Sheriff’s investigators are seeking the public’s help in identifying a male suspect who attempted to forcefully enter a residence this weekend.

Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler said a 19-year-old female victim reported she was home alone Saturday around 1:30 a.m., in the 100 block of West Tarrant Street in Millsap, when she went outside on her porch to let her dog in and saw a male standing at the corner of the home.

Sheriff’s Deputies Make Arrests in Aledo Area Vehicle Burglaries

Parker County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested two male adults and detained one juvenile male suspect in connection with multiple recent vehicle burglaries.

Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler said deputies responded to a vehicle burglary call Tuesday evening in the 300 block of Creek Bend Drive, in Aledo. The complainant reported that unknown suspect(s) had been breaking into vehicles recently around the neighborhood, stealing electronics, tools and personal possessions, while setting off car alarms.

Sheriff Receives State Award

Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler was awarded the 2010 Texas Peacemaker Award by the Sheriff’s Association of Texas (SAT).
Fowler was presented the award Tuesday in Austin by SAT Executive Director, Steve Westbrook, who said he was chosen for the award by a selection committee.
“I’ve known Sheriff Fowler for a number of years,” Westbrook said, “He exemplifies all of the qualities [required] of this award.”
