From Weatherford College
A special ceremony marking the beginning of construction of a new academic building at Weatherford College is scheduled Thursday, Oct. 27, and WC officials are inviting the public to attend.

The first new construction on the Weatherford campus in nine years, the 40,600-square-foot academic building, funded by college reserves, will be located west of the Doss Student Center and south of the Allied Health Building on the site where the College’s original bell and an arch made of stones from Old Main stand. Those campus landmarks will be moved slightly to the east and incorporated into the overall design of the $9 million building, which will house 10 classrooms, two lecture halls, eight laboratories, 11 faculty offices and a learning center.

“I think the new academic building will be the most exciting addition to the campus,” said Frank Martin, WC Board of Trustees chairman. “It is the first major facility solely dedicated to instruction that has been added in a number of years and will allow the reorganization and renovation of a number of other facilities to improve instruction and faculty/administration performance.”
