Weatherford PD requesting help solving A/C thefts

July 12, 2011 by Anonymous

From the Weatherford Police Department
In recent months, the Weatherford Police Department has seen an increase in thefts of air conditioning units and air conditioning parts from vacant houses and businesses during the night time hours. Since April 2011, more than 15 reports of stolen air conditioners and A/C parts have been received from various businesses along Santa Fe Dr, N Bankhead Dr, south of Interstate 20 and multiple vacant homes and houses under construction totaling thousands of dollars in loss.

Investigators believe the increase in these types of thefts has to do with the increase in price for scrap metal.
